Musixmatch app for Android knows how much you want to sing along to Taylor Swift’s latest single Shake it Off while you are listening to it on your smartphone. That’s why it promises to bring you the lyrics to any song you’re listening to without the hassle of switching between the music players and the lyrics app. We decided to take the app for a spin to see how it delivers.
MusixMatch Lyrics App for Android
Musixmatch was easily the best lyrics app/music player in 2013 but what makes it worth taking note of this time is the revamped interface and menu that supports more music players and offers a floating lyrics bar. Oh, and if you’re into Android Wear, that support is available too.
MusixMatch app is available on Google Play as a free download. Just launch the app and play the music stored on your device. The lyrics to the songs will be automatically displayed. You can watch the lyrics unfold one line at a time, and if you double tap, you can see the lyrics scroll up with emphasis placed on the line that is being sung.
FloatingLyrics in MusixMatch
If you don’t care to use the MusixMatch app as your music player, swipe to the right to display the MusixMatch menu and choose FloatingLyrics. FloatingLyrics works with Google Play Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, Rdio Music, and Deezer. If you don’t have any of these apps installed, it will direct you to the Play Store to download it.

Now just go over to your favorite player and tap on a song. you will see the FloatingLyrics pop up in a transparent window. You can double tap the window to change the display mode and long press the top edge of the window to move it around to a more convenient spot on the screen.
A vertical dotted menu on the FloatingLyrics window displays options to add to favorites, share, provide feedback, display the full version in the Musixmatch app to ID the music quickly (similar to what you have in SoundHound or Shazam).

A minimize window option is also available in the top left corner and should you do that, you’ll find the window turn into a tiny grey bubble floating around on the screen. You can of course, move it around if you like.

If you wish to karaoke to a song, just hit up the vertical dotted menu at the top right of the screen and select Sing. You’ll be recommended to put on your headset and the vocals in the song will be turned off just so you can sing at the top of your voice.
You can always turn off FloatingLyrics by opening the left hand menu, selecting Settings, then tapping Manage Notifications and disabling the option. You’ll also notice options to enable or disable Push notifications and further personalize the FloatingLyrics options.

Furthermore, there are options on the Settings page that allow you to personalize the UI, change the behavior of the audio playback, choose your share options and update your song library.
If you want to go premium, you can choose between a monthly or an annual plan and this will offer you an ad free music player, Chromecast support, as well as high priority support should you need any help from the team.
