Anybody who takes up a challenge of using Facebook only for a few minutes a day is bound to break that rule as soon as it is made. That’s because your social timeline always has something that’s too hard to turn away from. Maybe there’s a link that’s worth exploring, or a movie review that you have to check out right away before you decide to pick up tickets for the show. Either way, now you might just be able to make that challenge more realistic, thanks to Facebook Save. This is a feature that lets you bookmark or save your favorite news feed items in Facebook for reading later.
Facebook Save for Web and Mobile
Facebook Save is available both on the web version as well as on your Facebook app. You can save links, places, movies, TV shows, and even music for reading later on either platform. You can also share the stuff you saved with your Facebook friends.
How to Save Links using Facebook Save
To save an item from your News Feed:
Click Save at the bottom right corner of a post or click the and then select Save.
To save an item from a page, click … and then click Save.
On your mobile app, click from the bottom right of a post or tap and then select Save. If you are visiting a page, just hit and select Save.
How to Access Saved Items
If you are on a browser, from your home page you can click Saved from the left navigation pane. The saved items are organized in categories and you can open all of them or just the ones from a specific category. Furthermore, when you select a saved story you will be able to share it with others. If you’ve saved stories that you forgot to get back to, Facebook will send periodic notifications reminding you of the fact.
On your mobile, you can tap on the top menu, then tap a saved category to view it. Once you’ve opened up the story you wanted, you can swipe left and tap More->Share in New Post to share the post with friends.
Archiving Saved Facebook Posts
You can also archive posts you’ve saved for reading later. To do that from your web browser, from your Home page, click Saved in the left navigation pane. Hover over an item you want to archive and click the X button at the top right corner.
To archive an item from your mobile app, tap the menu and select Saved. Swipe left on the item you want to archive and then tap Archive.
Deleting Archived Items
You can also delete archived items from your Saved links.
On your web browser, click Saved on the left navigation pane. Click Archive and then click …next to the item you want to remove. Select Delete.
On the mobile app, tap the menu and select Saved. Swipe left on the saved categories and then tap Archives. Swipe left on the archived item you want to delete and then tap Delete.
The introduction of Facebook Save certainly saves you the trouble of moving to Pocket, Instapaper, or other read-later services. In fact, now you can keep track of all your restaurant reviews and similar such stuff in one place.
