Baby’s Brilliant – Using Tech to Teach and Calm Kids

March 3, 2016

Keep kids away from technology and you may find your little one struggling to keep up when they enter the classroom. Most kids will pick up the skills quite easily, but if you want to give your kids a head start, it’s wise to start early. Baby’s Brilliant is a unique app that runs on your iPhone or iPad and helps keep babies and toddlers entertained and engaged in a manner that helps stimulate their mind. Now, while it seems far-fetched that a computer program can help a baby think for itself, nothing could be further from reality.

Baby’s Brilliant App Review

Baby’s Brilliant Clips

The applications found in Baby’s Brilliant have been carefully designed to actively engage and evoke thoughts and deductions from babies and toddlers in a way that is entertaining and effective. The bright colors and engaging sounds spark neural connections at a rate that rivals traditional teaching methods.

The traditional classroom by no means will ever be replaced with computer programs, but, this app creates a strong foundation for kiddos in a way that sets them up for success, no matter what.

Baby’s Brilliant Music

When you first download the app, you’ll be required to sign up with an email and password. This will come after you scroll through the tutorial of sorts that is really a series of screens that describe major functions of the app.

Once you are in, you can tap on the different categories the app offers, using the icons that cross the top of the screen:

  • Videos
  • Music
  • Night Time
  • Books
  • Interactive Boards
  • Special Apps for the Hearing Impaired

You can even customize your setting using the last icon. It’s even block from child access with a requirement to type in a series of four digits, given as words, which is sure to keep you kids out, assuming they don’t know how to read, yet. An example would be “four, six, one, three.”

In Settings, you can setup a loop for playlists, view the introductory screens again, connect into your Facebook or Twitter account, and view your purchase history.

The app gives you about three items to view and use for free. After that, you have to purchase each item as you go along. Most items cost just $0.99 – a small price to pay for something that will keep your baby or toddler busy for however long you need it.

Baby’s Brilliant Animal Sounds

The only thing I would say the app needs to change is the login page. When getting ready to type in my password, the keyboard completely covered up that field, so I was unable to see it as I was typing. You don’t see what characters are being typed, for security purposes, but it was still unsettling not knowing if your password was being entered in the correct field.

Once this is fixed, and I am sure it will be soon, this app will have nothing to squawk about. It’s brought a great deal of fun and entertainment to my little ones, which has brought me a great deal of peace and quiet. A comforting shoulder to lean on when I am out and about and need it!
